Keeping your hair healthy in the summer

WIth the harsh UV rays, exposure to chlorine and saltwater, and additional blonde that many of us add to our hair during the warmer months, it shouldn't come as a surprise that keeping your tresses shiny and healthy after the summer may take a bit of extra work.  Here are the tips I give my clients to keep their hair healthy and lush.

. Buy a filter for your shower head.  Minerals and chlorine in the water will change the color of your hair, as well as the condition.

. Wet your hair with fresh water before swimming in chlorine or salt so it won't be able to absorb as much of the chlorine or salt water.

. Please don't wash your hair more than once a day, you will strip the essential oils.  If you must wet it in the shower, just condition it.

. Good products are a must!  I tend to reccomend different prodects for my clients in the summer, as the humidity and temperature are so different.  I love the Oleo Relax line by Kerestase for keeping hair smooth and sleek.

.  Eat plenty of healthy fats to give your hair the nutrients it needs.  No, not cupcakes!  Avocado, olive oil and salmon are all great.

.  Put your hair in a bun with conditioner while at the beach.  Use the heat of the sun to your advantage.

Stay beautiful and healthy,

Megan
