Six Pack Abs

There's something about a lean, defined midsection.  It's a bit of a rarity to see these days, and it isn't something that you can buy.  You, and only you do the work to create a six pack, and it shows a certain level of motivation and dedication that most people may not be willing to commit to.  I’ve heard people talk about celebrities and say how easy it must be for them because of all the people that they have helping them, but at the end of the day they are missing one important fact:  Whether or not someone has a private chef and a full time personal trainer, they still have to make choices with food and alcohol and whether to wake up for a workout in the morning or oversleep.  Basically, it’s not easy for anyone, and a lean, toned body takes work and discipline.

My daily fitness committment is pretty high.  I pack lunches, work out three times a week with intensity and contantly revisit my goals to see what I can improve.  The past few months have been incredibly busy, and while I was still doing all of this, I noticed a change in my physique.  Not a big change mind you, but the kind of change that tells you that you are ever to slightly slipping away from your goals, because you have made small, imperceptible changes that that have become habits, an in my case were ever so slowly sneaking a thin, but gradually increasing layer of body fat onto me.  I’m not talking about a huge change, maybe 5 pounds in 6 months……but left unchanged, that could become 20 pounds in two years and an entire new wardrobe because nothing would fit.  I still looked good, but my goal was to get back to having six pack abs.

If you want to change your body and make it noticeable, please be prepared to make a noticeable change in your diet and schedule.  New habits need to be made to get six pack abs.  Over time (yes this has happened to me before)   I started once again getting very carried away with my sugar consumption.  A little bit here and there started turning into large amounts of sugar several times a week which turns into….body fat.   I repeatedly tried to go back to eating super clean, and I did but…..the cravings for sugar were still overwhelming and were actually making me hungrier than I should have been.  This past week, after deciding that I would do a competition in August, I took sugar, white flour and dairy out of my diet altogether.  Just for the record, when I do this, I no longer keep the foods in my house.  Maybe I would have the willpower to abstain from eating all of those things, but it’s much easier for me knowing that they aren’t in my house.  Of course it took a little getting used to!  I love my coffee in the morning with coconut sugar, but I decided that I love having six pack abs more.  I didn’t use artificial sweeteners to give myself the feeling that I was having sugar because I wanted to get rid of the cravings for sugar, and to reset my body for cleaner eating after doing this for a week or two.

Little habits and small amounts of extra calories add up over time and keep you from having your dream body.  It’s okay to splurge, but once in a great while, not with every meal.:)  After a week of resetting by body I’m off to a great start, and ready to get six pack abs for summer.  You can achieve anything if you’re willing to commit, what’s holding you back?
